ESG-RATINGS
ESG PRESENTATIONS, RECOGNITIONS AND MEMBERSHIPS
We continuously engage in a transparent manner with environmental, social and governance (ESG) ratings and are proud of the initiatives in which we actively participate — and the recognitions we have received.
DGNB Premium Member
As the first producer of concrete elements in Denmark, CRH Concrete is a premium member of the Danish Green Building Council. The Danish Green Building Council is a non-profit membership organisation established to promote sustainability in the construction and property industry. Through a high level of professional expertise, experience and a strong foothold in the industry, documented sustainable development is created across the following areas:
- DGNB
We administer and develop the DGNB certification system, which is used to document sustainability initiatives in construction, buildings and urban development in Denmark. - EU Taxonomy
We are behind the industry’s joint translation of the EU Taxonomy for the Danish construction and property industry. In addition, we carry out third-party validation of compliance with the taxonomy’s criteria.
Sustainable Concrete Initiative
The Sustainable Concrete Initiative’s roadmap sets out concrete proposals for how CO₂ emissions can be reduced from start to finish in construction and civil engineering projects. The initiative’s target is a 70% reduction in CO₂ emissions by 2030 compared to 2019.
The Sustainable Concrete Initiative focuses on the knowledge we already possess as well as on technologies that have been tested and need to become mainstream — through, amongst other things, improved client requirements, cross-disciplinary collaboration and systematic knowledge gathering.
The chairmanship of the Sustainable Concrete Initiative’s steering committee is held in part by Vibeke Starup Jacobsen, Commercial director at CRH Denmark.
CONSTRUCTION’S SUSTAINABILITY THINK TANK
As part of DI — Confederation of Danish Industry’s Construction Sustainability Think Tank, we actively participate in the following working groups:
- Rules and frameworks: Head of Sustainability Camilla Dyring
- Collaboration in the construction and civil engineering sector: Project Manager Anja Hesthaven
- Circular economy: Technical Manager Lars A. Reimer
In the working groups, we investigate, discuss, analyse and prioritise various solutions that can reduce the carbon footprint and set a common direction for the industry’s green transition. See 33 concrete action proposals in the recently published report (25 January 2024) here.
SCIENCE BASED TARGETS – CLIMATE ACTION AMBITION
We fully support the goals of the Paris Agreement and are working towards delivery of our ambition to become a net-zero business by 2050.
We have set an industry-leading target to deliver a 30% reduction in absolute carbon emissions by 2030 (from a 2021 base year).
The SBTi has validated that our near-term science-based carbon emissions reduction targets are in line with a 1.5°C pathway.
