ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATION

EPDs

An EPD (Environmental Product Declaration), or miljøvaredeklaration as it is known in Danish, documents the environmental properties of a construction product and is developed in accordance with recognised European and international standards.

All of our environmental product declarations are prepared using Dansk Beton’s EPD tool. Dansk Beton’s EPD tool complies with the requirements of DS/EN 15804:2012+A2:2019 and DS/EN 16757:2022. The tool has been developed by LCA.no and is third-party verified by the operator EPD Norway.

Environmental product declarations are an important tool when it comes to reducing the climate impact of construction. With early involvement, we can help you to optimise your project. We work every day on the development of our concrete elements and the optimal use of our element types for different construction projects. We possess the most up-to-date knowledge of our products — knowledge that contractors and consultants do not necessarily have.

LCAbyg5 files

We want to make it easy to use our environmental product declarations. We therefore publish LCAbyg5 construction files, which can be imported directly into the LCAbyg calculation. The LCAbyg5 files can be found under the individual EPDs below.

Product EPD

A product EPD documents the average climate impact of a product or product category.

At CRH Denmark, we publish product EPDs for a part of our product range. Our product EPDs are as a general rule based on one year’s production data across production sites. There may be instances where a full year’s data is not available — for example, in the case of the phase-out of a cement, a concrete mix or a supplier. In such cases, the EPD is calculated on the basis of a minimum of three months’ data. The data basis is stated in the EPD.

Our product EPDs can be downloaded below or via the EPD Norway website.

PROJEKT EPD

AN EXAMPLE FOR STANDARD AND OPTIMAL HOLLOW CORE SLABS

BR18 HOLLOW CORE SLAB, GENERIC DATA

51,6 kg CO₂eq pr. m²

The generic data basis for a 220 mm hollow core slab based on BR18, Annex 2, Table 7 #B1346 is 51.6 kg CO₂ per m² (A1-3, C3-4).

CRH C55 STANDARD HOLLOW CORE SLAB:

34,4 kg CO₂eq pr. m²

Our C55 STANDARD hollow core slab reduces the hollow core slab’s CO₂ emissions to 111.1 kg CO₂eq per tonne (A1-3, C3-4), equivalent to 34.4 kg CO₂eq per m² for a 220 mm hollow core slab.

CRH C55 OPTIMAL HULDÆK:

30,6 kg CO₂eq pr. m²

Vores C55 OPTIMAL huldæk reducerer huldækkets CO₂ udledning til 98,6 kg CO₂eq pr. ton (A1-3,C3-4), svarende til 30,6 kg CO₂eq pr. m² for et 220 mm huldæk.

CRH C45 OPTIMAL HULDÆK:

23,7 kg CO₂eq pr. m²

Vores C45 OPTIMAL huldæk reducerer huldækkets CO₂ udledning til 76,4 kg CO₂eq pr. ton (A1-3,C3-4), svarende til 23,7 kg CO₂eq pr. m² for et 220 mm huldæk.

CO₂eq reduction of up to 54% compared to the building regulations’ standard value for hollow core slabs in exposure class X0, XC1.
