OUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE UN’S SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS<\/p>\n

By placing sustainability at the core of modern construction, we support the fulfilment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We have embedded sustainability at the heart of our business strategy, culture and building solutions. This approach is fundamental to meeting the growing focus on sustainable projects and to achieving our long-term business vision.<\/p>\n

There are 17 Sustainable Development Goals that together address the global challenges facing society. Although\u00a0CRH\u00a0supports all 17 goals, we have identified seven where we believe we can make the greatest contribution. These seven encompass Sustainable Development Goals that are aligned with the three global challenges for the built environment \u2014 decarbonisation, circularity and water \u2014 together with other sustainability priorities for our business.<\/p>\n

We have a long track record of setting and achieving ambitious targets that help us deliver long-term value and growth \u2014 including with a focus on sustainability. These ambitions and targets reflect the areas and global trends where we believe\u00a0CRH\u00a0can drive the greatest change and support global efforts such as the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n

We are taking concrete steps to promote a more inclusive and diverse working environment, including increasing the representation of women at all levels in a traditionally male-dominated industry. In addition, we have signed the Gender Diversity Pledge from the Confederation of Danish Industry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We help to address the challenges facing global water supplies by conserving water in our own operations and by offering water infrastructure solutions that enable access to clean water, water reuse, wastewater management and flood resilience.<\/p>\n

Minimising concrete consumption in a construction project requires all parties involved to invest time and effort in design optimisation from the very start of the project. By being brought into the design optimisation process early on, we have the opportunity to find new solutions and develop them in collaboration with our clients. We need to provide consultancy on individual projects, so that we are not simply delivering standard solutions to the construction industry. In the design phase, we are capable of so much more than 18 cm thick concrete walls.<\/p>\n

The focus is on safe housing built with respect for the world’s natural heritage. Making optimal use of resources is a daily goal for us, and this naturally applies to housing projects as well. Here it is important to be able to construct safe and affordable housing for people. This also requires investment in the right types of housing, more green public spaces and sharp urban planning.<\/p>\n

By optimising construction, we use less concrete and less reinforcement without compromising on safety, and we bring this mindset into every project we are involved in. This is also felt at the other end of the production process, where we both reduce the amount of waste and at the same time increase the prioritisation of concrete reuse. We also bring an understanding of responsible practices into the office itself. A lower level of consumption and less waste are already part of our everyday agenda.<\/p>\n

We have set industry-leading targets and are accelerating our decarbonisation efforts to meet our ambition of achieving net zero by 2050. We are also innovating the low-carbon solutions necessary to decarbonise the built environment, including those that enable energy-efficient buildings.<\/p>\n

Alts\u00e5 en sammenh\u00e6ngende verden, hvor der t\u00e6nkes nyt, og processerne gennemf\u00f8res smart og effektivt uden at spilde hverken kr\u00e6fter eller ressourcer undervejs. Ogs\u00e5 her kan CRH Concrete g\u00f8re en forskel.<\/p>\n

Nummer 11: B\u00e6redygtige byer og lokalsamfund.<\/h3>\n

Fokus er p\u00e5 sikre boliger, der er opf\u00f8rt med respekt for verdens naturarv. At udnytte ressourcerne optimalt er et dagligt m\u00e5l for os, og det g\u00e6lder naturligvis ogs\u00e5 i boligbyggerier.<\/p>\n

Her er det vigtigt at kunne opf\u00f8re sikre og billige boliger til mennesker og f.eks. opgradere boligstandarden i slumkvarterer. Det kr\u00e6ver ogs\u00e5 investeringer i de rigtige boliger, flere gr\u00f8nne offentlige rum og en skarp byplanl\u00e6gning, som inddrager borgerne. Her kan vi virkelig g\u00f8re en forskel.<\/p>\n

Nummer 12:\u00a0Ansvarligt forbrug og produktion.<\/h3>\n

Ved at optimere konstruktionen bruger vi mindre beton og mindre armering, uden at s\u00e6tte sikkerheden over styr, og denne omtanke bringer vi med ind i hvert projekt, som vi er involveret i. Det m\u00e6rkes ogs\u00e5 i den anden ende af produktionen, hvor vi b\u00e5de reducerer m\u00e6ngden af affald og samtidig opprioriterer genbrugen af beton. Vi tager ogs\u00e5 forst\u00e5elsen for en ansvarlig livsstil med helt ind p\u00e5 kontoret.<\/p>\n

S\u00e5ledes er et lavere forbrug og et mindre spild allerede en del af dagsordenen i hverdagen, og dette punkt vil l\u00f8bende fylde mere og mere – ogs\u00e5 i CRH Concrete.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nummer 17: Partnerskab for handling,<\/h3>\n

Her er vi i flere sammenh\u00e6nge allerede g\u00e5et forrest med innovative samarbejder. Et godt eksempel er B\u00e6redygtig Beton Initiativ med m\u00e5let om at reducere CO\u2082-udledningen fra betonbyggeri med 50 procent inden 2030.
